Please HELP! How do I install a new air intake into my 2002 2.2 L-4 Cavalier?
I’m waiting for a new air intake system that I had ordered online to arrive and am worried because it will not come with installation instructions. I have never installed an intake before, thus I have no idea how to do it. Do I need to remove the plastic housing that holds the air filter?–As you can tell, I am not mechanically inclined in the slightest so I need thorough instructions on how to install it!
Will somebody be willing to explain this to me please??
i don’t have a cavalier but i’ve done this before. You car probably has the intake tube that connects to a box that houses the airfilter. After that you should have a tube that runs lower that connects to the air resonator box. This box is what makes your intake quiet. You didn’t state whether it is short ram or cold air. But you want to remove everything that is before the throttle body. The intake tube, box, and anything else. If your car does have a resonator box, this can be tricky because usually you need to lift your car and take it out from underneath the car. So after everything is off put bolt the parts that will hold the intake firmly or if it all one piece just put the silicone or whatever fitting on to the throttle body, clamp it. Connect all the tubes that were connected to the tube if any. A little drilling may be necessary for supports, if the manufacturer is good it uses prexisting places for supports. Put on the air filter and any other loose ends. It’s really easy you should be able to figure it out
