What does the oil do for an air filter?
I bought a new air filter that came with small oil spray. I know I have to oil the filter before using it; same as I did for my old K&N filter. But I am wondering, what does the oil do?? I think all it does make the particles stick to the filter so that you have to wash it with the cleaning kit later on (so that you have to give the producing company more $$)
Anyone knows what is the real reason for oiling the filter?

just what you said, it traps the small particles so they don’t get in your system. No, its not for the company to make more money. Thats why they are reusable filters. They have better air flow and the oil helps keep the dirt out without restricting air flow as a convential filter does.
