My Air Filter for my AC got sucked up the vent, what do I do?
I had one of the reusable air filters for my home aircondition unit. The foam has been suck up the tube towards the AC unit. What do I do? Will this cause a fire? HOW do I get it out because the Tube curves and I can’t see it, but the AC sounds different.
If the AC unit is close to the return air vent where the filter was located, you can probably just remove the panel where the fan is located and pull it out of the fan wheel. Make sure the fan is turned off and be careful in removing the filter. You don’t want to bend the fins on the fan or it will become unbalanced and start shaking over time. If the unit is farther away from where the filter was located, you might be able to straighten out a coat hanger, put a small bend in one end to form a hook, and fish it out from the duct. One way or the other you need to get it out. It will eventually restrict the air flow in the ductwork, and lead to poor performance and probably icing up of the coil. Good luck.
